What You Need To Know About Star Lord From Guardians of the Galaxy

Star Lord is best known for his role as leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
A
major character in the MCU films based on the Marvel comics, Peter
Quill aka Starlord has become well known by fans of the Avengers and
GOTG movies.

Star Lord aka Peter Quill
Star Lord aka Peter Quill

Star-Lord in Marvel Comics

The
character known as Peter Quill was conceived by Earth woman Meredith
Quill and the alien male J’son. J’son was the Spartoi Emperor at the
time. His ship crash landed on Earth, where he met Meredith.

The
two formed a romantic relationship soon after. J’son returned to space
to resume fighting in an intergalactic battle. He left Meredith back on
Earth, not knowing she was pregnant.

Ten years later, Peter
returns home after being bruised in his attempt to fend off a bully. As
he is washing up for supper, his mother is distracted by a bright light
outside. The light was from a pair of Badoon soldiers.

The aliens
arrived on Earth to kill Peter and Meredith to bring the “Spartoi
bloodline” to a halt. Meredith was assassinated by the Badoon, but Peter
was able to escape.

Young Peter Quill later wound up in an orphanage. He had a tough time adjusting to his new life and finding a foster family.

Peter
never gave up on his dream of becoming an astronaut. He wanted to
travel into space to find the aliens who murdered his mother and avenge
her death.

Quill got one step closer to his dream as an adult when
he landed a job at NASA. Realising his opportunity, Peter stole a space
ship left belonging to the Kree. He managed to elude the station’s
security and successfully flew into space.

Unfortunately, the
stolen space ship soon started malfunctioning. Unfamiliar with the alien
technology, Peter became stranded in space.

He was drifting all
alone in the cosmos for three days, until a group of space pirates known
as the Ravagers came across his ship.

The pirates’ leader Yondu tried to steal the spacecraft after saving Quill. Peter put up a brave fight, but was later imprisoned.

Afterwards,
Quill asked the alien space captain if he could join his crew. Yondu
was skeptical at first, but agreed to bring the young Earthman on as his
cleaning boy.

Peter stayed on and paid close attention to the pirate crew, attempting to learn as much as he could from them.

Star Lord

A
couple years after Peter stole the Kree ship, he met Ma Savage. The
alien woman became a kind of second mother to Quill, and he started
funding her orphanage.

Quill also wound up meeting
his birth father J’son of Spartax, who was the second son of the
Galactic Emperor who had previously served as Star-Lord.

During
this encounter, Peter learned more about his family history and
heritage. He was also told about his birthright to become the Star-Lord.

J’son
wanted Peter to live and rule alongside him as prince of Spartax. Peter
rejected the invitation, because he disagreed with the idea of someone
owning the galaxy. He wanted the universe to be free to live and create
in peace.

The two parted on bad terms. Peter later found a
sentient vessel named “Ship” that he traveled the galaxy with for
several years.

Learn About The Secret Life of Rocket Racoon

Rocket has grown in popularity in recent years due to his
appearance in the recent Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
This is impressive, especially when you consider the lack of publicity
when he was first introduced.

The character only

existence. He made his debut in the black and white magazine Marvel
Preview in the summer of 1976.

in the Keystone Quadrant.

The planet had become an abandoned colony populated by mentally ill humans.

The
animals on that world were genetically manipulated to become the

The process of genetics that Genis came from went so well that his mom wanted to make a daughter too.

Phyla
and her brother Genis are Eternal/Kree hybrid. She’s the genetic clone
child of Elysius of Titan and Captain Marvel from Kree.

Phyla
underwent simulation training on Titan which made her versatile in
various things and made her age faster. All of this made her extremely
overzealous and cocky.

The first time Phyla appears is when she’s
neutralizing her brother because he went insane. After the
neutralization she decided to claim Captain Marvel’s mantle that her
brother denied.

All while this was happening, Moondragon broke up with Rick Jone’s late wife Mario. Phyla took this chance to start a romantic relationship with Moondragon.

You did not Know This About Nebula From Guardians of the Galaxy

Nebula is a deadly Luphomoid assassin who features in the
MCU movies as the Daughter of Thanos and sister of Gamora. But the
Nebula of the Marvel comics has a differing past than that of the
movies.

Nebula in the comic is an infamous space pirate who may or may not be the granddaughter of Thanos.

Nebula from Marvel Comics
Nebula from Marvel Comics

While
Nebula played by Karen Gillan in the Avengers and Guardians of the
Galaxy movies is an adopted daughter of Thanos who has been upgraded to
increase her abilities.

Nebula In Marvel Comics

Nebula first came to prominence in Marvel Comics when she hijacked Sanctuary II which was used by Thanos as a base.

Not
much of her life is known before this time. She and her trusted aides
teleported Sanctuary II out of the solar system after they had repaired
the hyperdrives.

First Appearances Of Nebula

Nebula
made her first appearance in Avengers #257 at a point when Thanos was
not even in the picture. Although he was not dead, he had been turned to
stone and therefore was not causing any problems.

She
met Captain Marvel when her minions warped a space ship out of the
solar system which just happened to have Captain Marvel onboard. The two
met when Nebula joined her minions on this space ship.

The Skrull
empire was in chaos after Galactus had destroyed its throne world.
Nebula planned to take advantage of this and conquer the empire. Captain
Marvel pretended to go along with her plan but actually helped to
evacuate the Skrull.

When the rest of the Avengers eventually
found Captain Marvel they teamed up with the Skrull in order to defeat
Nebula. Starfox was part of this battle and it was at this point that
Nebula first mentioned that she was Thanos granddaughter.

As Starfox was the brother of Thanos, then he believed that Nebula was his grand niece.
Nebula eventually escaped from the Avengers when she was teleported out of the Androdema galaxy by Beyonder.

What Race Is Nebula?

Many
people assume that Nebula is Kree because of her blue skin but this is
not the case. She is part of a race called the Luphomoids. Not many
members of this race survive because their planet was destroyed by
Galactus.

There have been other Luphomoids that have featured in
the Marvel comics and most of them have been villains. However, Nebula
is a bit different from the rest of them.

Zorr is an example of
one of these villains and his sole aim was to find a new home for his
race after their planet was destroyed. Nebula never seemed interested in
helping the rest of her species and was content with becoming a space
pirate.

Is Nebula Thanos’ Daughter?

In the
movies Nebula is a key part of the story because she is Thanos adopted
daughter. However, no such connection exists in the comics.

She
claims to be his granddaughter but this is nothing that has ever been
proven. A common theory is that this was just something she said to
Thanos in order to gain an ally.

When Thanos was reborn one of the first things he did was try to reclaim Sanctuary II, which Nebula was in control of at the time.

It
is not clear whether Thanos believed she was his granddaughter or not,
but he certainly did not treat her well. He torched her body to the
point where she was almost dead and and then left her in this state.

Nebula claimed the gauntlet for herself once Thanos had defeated Eternity and used it to restore herself back to life.

Adam Warlock
eventually gained the gauntlet from her and once again she was left in a
catatonic state. This came to an end when one of her crew rescued her
from Titan and she had surgery to return her physical state to what it
was before.

Everything You Do Not Know About Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy

As an adult, Groot eventually found himself wandering off into Kree space. He was soon discovered and captured by Kree soldiers.

Groot formed a friendship with fellow prisoner Rocket Raccoon
and was added to a strike force led by Star-Lord. The primary objective
was to launch an attack on Hala in an effort to defeat the Phalanx.

During
the battle, most of Groot’s body was destroyed. A small twig from his
body broke off during the conflict, which Rocket rescued and carried
with him. Groot can eventually regrow his body to its normal size.

Powers And Abilities

Flora Colossus Physiology:
Groot belongs to an alien race of humanoid trees, and has various abilities that are different from most members of his species.

Regenerative Healing Factor:
He
has appeared to have been killed on at least three separate occasions,
and has managed to regrow himself from a sprig every time. This could be
a key factor in his botanopathy.

Size Addition:
Groot
can increase his size very rapidly, seemingly at will. Groot can grow
from a small sapling to his normal height, or grow from his normal
height into a giant.

Plasticity:
He can
also grow and stretch his limbs for different tasks. Groot is usually
seen as a tall tree-like humanoid, but he can also twist and bend his
roots into just about any size or shape imaginable.
Expanding his
limbs to various lengths gives him the appearance of having stretching
powers. These powers look somewhat similar to Reed Richards of the
Fantastic Four. This ability may be due to Groot’s mastery over plants
and his ability for cellular regeneration.

Superhuman Strength:
Groot’s
hardened body also gives him superhuman strength. He’s able to resist
attacks by Armodillo and other villains with strong outer shells or
armor.

Superhuman Durability:
His “skin” is
composed of wood fibers that are durable enough to withstand most
standard weapons. This includes laser beams, gunfire and fire that would
normally char or destroy other kinds of wood.

Chlorokinesis:
Groot
can control other plant life in addition to his own body. He can use
these powers to heal himself, grow his body and convert his limbs into
powerful weapons during battle.

Healing Power:
He
can also heal others. While the full extent of this capability is not
yet known, he was able to heal the being known as the Gardener from
poison in mere seconds.

Genius-Level Intellect:
Groot
received only the best education from Photonic Knowledge of the Arbor
Masters during his time on Planet X. He is reported as being extremely
intelligent and has vast knowledge of quasi-dimensional super-positional
engineering, according to the Inhuman known as “Maximus the Mad.”

Secret Life of Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy

The Mantis from Marvel comics is a Vietnamese and German
woman who was adopted by the Kree cult to be the potential mom of the
Celistial Messiah.

Mantis from Marvel Comics
Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy in Marvel Comics

She
was trained and had her memory erased to have a clean slate. The Kree
cult sent her to venture the universe to be well versed, and that’s
where she met the Avengers.

Mantis meets Jacques Duquesne who’s a swordsman while she was working as a barmaid at a Vietnamese bar.

The
two of them go back to the United States after Mantis helps Jacques
regain his self confidence. Jacques joins the Avengers and so does
Mantis due to her sexual attraction to the Vision.

Little did
Mantis know that the swordsman she helped out had feelings for her. This
was revealed only when Jacques was dying on his deathbed by the hands
of Kang the Conqueror while looking for Madonna.

After the
confession Mantis learns that she’s the Celestial Madonna and flees
Earth with Cotati so the Celestial Messiah could be born.

The Celestial Messiah

Mantis changes her name to Mandy Celestine to stay under cover and names the child that she’s carrying Sequoia.

Mantis gives Sequoia to some Priests of Pama so that she can be raised while she goes on adventures with the Silver Surfer.

She
starts a new relationship with the old herald of Galactus after her
powers changed and she started becoming depressed. A massive explosion
that she was situated with made the Silver Surfer think that Mantis was
dead.

Mantis actually lives on through the explosion but with all
of the stress that she’s been through she gets fragmented into various
versions of herself.

Each version has a different part of her
personality and memories. One of the versions of Mantis ends up on the
West Coast Avengers team for a little bit before she started to raise
her own son.

After a period of time, Mantis gathers all of her
fragmented selves and combines into one person again. She then rejoins
the Avengers and stops Thanos from killing her son.

While
all of that was happening, Mantis tries to get back with Vision but
stops as soon as she realizes that Vision and Scarlet Witch have a real
connection despite being away from each other.

Major Victory from Guardians of the Galaxy
Major Victory from Guardians of the Galaxy

That ambition was fulfilled after Astro reached the rank of Major within the US Air Force.
He volunteered to be an astronaut on the interstellar mission to Alpha Centuri, after being placed in suspended animation.

He
took so long to get there that Earth had already managed to settle the
area centuries before. Spending so long in stasis had also harmed his
metabolism, meaning that he could not survive without his suit on.

Although
there was no need for him to complete his mission, he still researched
the Centaurians. However that research ended as the alien Badoon
destroyed the population. Only he and the Centaurian called Yondu survived the attacks.

Astro
discovered that he could kill by unleashing brain waves of kinetic
power around this time. He and Yondu then found the Guardians of the
Galaxy and joined the fight to remove the Badoon from both the Solar and
Centuri.

What You Don’t Know About Drax the Destroyer

he Drax that you see in the canon Marvel Comics Universe isn’t the same one that you see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In
the movie Guardians of the Galaxy he’s known as a primitive unknown
species in a tribe that can’t understand metaphorical statements.

After being recognised as a good guy he joins Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Groot, and many other heroes.

They
call this group the Guardians of the Galaxy, known for their amazing
abilities and bond that stays strong in any dangerous situation.

First Appearance

The first time Drax  appeared in Marvel Comics was alongside Thanos. He finds Ironman and tells him that his main mission in life is to defeat the Mad Titan.

Drax
goes into detail about how the entity of the cosmos Kosmos replied to
Mentor’s plea for assistance in taking down his son Thanos.

Kronos
agreed to help and zapped an area of Titanian dirt to combine it with
with Arthur Douglas’ soul. Arthur Douglas was killed earlier by Thanos
and is now what makes Drax who he is.

With the help of Ironman,
Drax goes and defeats Thanos’ lackeys named the the Blood Brothers. They
continue on to fight who they thought was Thanos only to realize that
it was a fake robot replica.

Arthur Douglas

Arthur
Douglas is a married real estate agent that lives in Los Vegas. He was
taking his wife Yvette and two kids to Los Angeles one day when
something happened in the Mojave desert.

Thanos was
on a surveillance mission and was passing across the desert when he saw
Arthur’s car. Thanos didn’t want anyone to know he was on Earth so he
took a detour and destroyed their car and went on his way.

Thanos’
dad Mentor was watching his every move and saw what he had done to
Arthur’s car. Mentor went and discovered that one of Arthur’s daughters,
Heather, survived the incident.
Mentor took Heather to raise her on Titan and she returns to Earth later as Moondragon.

After seeing what what his son was doing, Mentor wanted to make something powerful enough to stop him.

Mentor remembers that his dad Kronos was once one of the most ruthless beings in the universe and goes to ask for his help.

Together they take the conscious life force energy of Arthur before it disappeared from his dead body.

Kronos And Mentor

Mentor and Kronos took some soil from Earth and made a human body from it. From there they infused it with super powers and Douglas’ soul making the new being who would be known as Drax the Destroyer.

Mentor
removed all of Drax’s memories of when he was Arthur Douglas and filled
that will a loathing for Thanos instead. Drax the Destroyer then spends
years of his life trying to stop Thanos but can only manage to thwart
his plans.

It was during this time that he meets Ironman countless
of times. Drax had a chance to defeat Thanos when he was trying to stop
the Titan from getting the Cosmic Cube. But Drax lost and went to the
Avengers to ask for help.

Drax heads back to Thanos with Moondragon, Captain Marvel, and the Avengers and defeats him before he could get the Cosmic Cube.

After Thanos died, Drax became depressed from not having a purpose anymore and went to wander space.

A couple of months pass and Drax was destroying a planet when he sees Captain Marvel.
Drax
goes to take out all of his anger out on Captain Marvel for killing
Thanos instead of him. He stops when Rick Jones pops up in his head to
tell him that Thanos has been revived.

What You Don’t Know About Drax the Destroyer

from Blogger http://geek-hut.blogspot.com/2019/09/what-you-dont-know-about-drax-destroyer.html

Who is Moondragon in Guardians of the Galaxy?

Moondragon has had a long and storied career. She is a
powerful telepath and telekinetic. She is also the daughter of Arthur
Douglas, now known as the hero Drax.

She once owned
the Mind Gem, which is one of the six Infinity Gems. Even though
Moondragon is known for being a loner, she has frequently been part of
super hero teams.

Infinity Watch

Moondragon joined the Infinity Watch alongside other powerful heroes who were each designated an Infinity Gem to guard.

Other members of the Watch include: Drax the Destroyer, Pip the Troll, Gamora, Maxam, Thanos and Adam Warlock.

One
of Moondragon’s first assignments after joining the Infinity Watch was
guarding the Mind Gem. This powerful gem boosted her already formidable
mental capabilities.

She went out to test those abilities after the group members went off in separate directions.
She
soon encountered the Silver Surfer, and sought to help him find his
home planet of Zenn-La. The planet had been taken by the entity known as
the Great One.

The powerful being put Zenn-La and several other
massive planets in his mind. Moondragon used her mental powers to
persuade the Great One to release all of the planets he had captured.

The
members of the Infinity Watch finally agreed to work together after the
Man Beast tried to pit the team members against one another.

This
cooperation was later broken up by the Goddess, who gathered heroes
from around the universe via mind control in an attempt to join her
cause during the Infinity Crusade.

The
Goddess appointed Moondragon to High Priestess of the Holy Guard.
Moondragon was later freed of the Goddess’ control and was upset at the
concept of being manipulated and controlled by another being.
